Terms & Conditions

I Survived an Asian Mom Club

Last updated: July 2026

By signing up for a support group session ("Session") offered by Lela Lee ("we," "us," "our"), you agree to the following terms.

1. Nature of the Service

These Sessions are peer support groups led by Lela Lee, a survivor and community facilitator — not a licensed therapist, counselor, or medical professional

Sessions do not constitute therapy, medical treatment, professional mental health care, counseling, or any form of professional diagnosis or intervention. Participation in these Sessions is not a substitute for professional mental health care, psychiatric treatment, or medical advice.

If you are currently working with a mental health professional, you may find peer support valuable in addition to that professional care, but not as a replacement. You are responsible for maintaining your own mental health care and seeking professional help as needed.

2. Crisis Resources

This group is not equipped to respond to emergencies or mental health crises. If you are in crisis, having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, experiencing suicidal ideation, or need immediate support, do not rely on this group

Please contact:

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 (available 24/7 in the US)

National Crisis Text Line: Text "HELLO" to 741741

Emergency Services: Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room

International: Contact your local emergency services or crisis line

The facilitator is not trained in crisis intervention and cannot provide emergency mental health support.

3. Eligibility

You must be 18 years or older to participate. By signing up, you confirm you meet this requirement and are capable of consenting to the terms herein.

4. Payment & Billing

Sessions are billed on a recurring monthly subscription basis at the rate shown at signup ($58/month for the first cohort, subject to change). Your payment method will be charged automatically each month until you cancel.

If you sign up before your cohort's official start date, your first payment reserves your spot; any applicable credit or proration will be applied as described on the signup page. You will receive a confirmation of each charge.

5. Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Cancellation stops future billing but does not entitle you to a refund for the current billing period. To cancel, manage your subscription directly through your account or email us with your cancellation request.

6. Missed Sessions

If you miss a scheduled Session, no refund or credit will be issued for that Session.

If Lela Lee is unable to hold a scheduled Session for any reason beyond her control, members will receive a prorated credit or refund for that missed Session, to be applied to the next billing cycle or issued if the group ends.

7. Confidentiality & Member Privacy Expectations

What Members Agree To

What is shared within a Session, in group chats, and in related community spaces is confidential. Members agree to:

Not record, screenshot, or photograph any part of Sessions or member conversations

Not share, repeat, or reference other members' stories, names, or identifying information outside the group

Not share or discuss other members' personal disclosures on social media, with friends, family, or in any public or semi-public context

This is a mutual confidentiality expectation among all members. Breaches by other members are serious violations of our Code of Conduct (Section 8) and may result in removal from the group.

Members can share their own notes/summaries in the group (peer-to-peer) if a member has missed a meeting, but the facilitator won't be providing official recordings.

Lela Lee's Confidentiality Commitment

The confidentiality obligation applies equally to the facilitator. Lela Lee commits to:

Maintaining strict confidentiality of all member names, identifying information, and personal disclosures

Not sharing member stories, experiences, or details with anyone outside the group

Not using or referencing any member's specific story, disclosure, or identifying information in her independent creative work, books, memoirs, articles, podcasts, social media, or any public content — without that member's prior written consent

Limited Exception: Anonymized Themes

If Lela Lee wishes to discuss general, anonymized themes or patterns observed across the group (without identifying any individual or referencing their specific story), she may do so only after:

Disclosing this intention to the group in advance so members are aware

Ensuring the themes are truly anonymized — no individual could reasonably be identified

Any use of an individual member's specific story, experience, or identifiable details — even if anonymized — requires that member's explicit, separate, opt-in written consent. This consent may be withheld or withdrawn at any time.

8. Code of Conduct & Removal

We reserve the right to remove any member from the group without refund for the current billing period, if that member engages in behavior that:

Is abusive, hostile, disruptive, or harassing toward other members or the facilitator

Violates the confidentiality expectations of other members

Breaches another member's privacy or shares their disclosures outside the group

Is inconsistent with the respectful, supportive, peer-focused purpose of the group

Violates these Terms & Conditions

Removal is at the sole discretion of Lela Lee. Members will receive written notice of removal and the reason(s).

9. Facilitator Confidentiality Commitment

This confidentiality obligation applies equally to the Facilitator (Lela Lee). Personal stories, disclosures, and experiences shared by members within ISAM sessions, community channels, or related group spaces will not be used, referenced, or adapted — in whole or in part — in the Facilitator's independent creative, written, or published works, including but not limited to books, memoirs, articles, or public content, without the specific member's prior written consent.

The Facilitator's role as group leader is distinct from her independent work as an author. Where the Facilitator wishes to draw on general, anonymized themes or patterns observed across the group (without identifying any individual or their specific story) for educational or creative purposes, she will disclose this intention to the group in advance. Any use of an individual member's specific story or identifiable details requires that member's separate, explicit, opt-in consent, which may be withheld or withdrawn at any time.

This peer support community operates across multiple platforms:

  • Zoom is used to host live group sessions and meetings

  • Squarespace manages our primary website and billing.

By participating, you agree to the terms of all applicable platforms:

We are not responsible for any platform's technical failures, outages, or data practices beyond our control. If you have questions about how a third party handles your data, please refer to their policies directly.

12. Assumption of Risk & Voluntary Participation

You Voluntarily Participate

By joining this group, you acknowledge and assume the following:

Peer support is not professional treatment. Sharing personal experiences with peers may bring up difficult emotions, memories, or realizations. This is a natural part of peer support but is not therapy.

You are responsible for managing your own mental health. If group discussions trigger distress, anxiety, or emotional difficulty, it is your responsibility to seek professional support or remove yourself from the group.

Emotional reactions are part of the process. We cannot guarantee that participation will be helpful, comforting, or resolution-focused. Group dynamics and other members' experiences may affect you emotionally.

No guarantees of outcomes. Lela Lee and I Survived an Asian Mom Club do not guarantee that participation will reduce isolation, improve mental health, solve problems, or produce any specific result.

You have the right to leave at any time. If you do not feel safe, supported, or comfortable in the group, you can cancel your subscription and leave.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

What Lela Lee IS Responsible For

Lela Lee is responsible for:

Maintaining confidentiality of member disclosures

Facilitating respectful group discussions

Enforcing the Code of Conduct fairly

Not using member stories without consent

Adhering to all terms in this agreement

What Lela Lee Is NOT Liable For

Lela Lee and I Survived an Asian Mom Club are not liable for:

Emotional, psychological, or psychological harm arising from peer support participation, including distress, anxiety, triggering, or emotional reactions to other members' stories

Outcomes or results from participation, including failure to achieve personal goals, resolve issues, or improve mental health

Actions or breaches by other members, including confidentiality breaches by fellow participants (though we will enforce our Code of Conduct)

Platform failures or technical issues with Skool, Squarespace, and/or Zoom. (see Section 11)

Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind

Our Liability Cap

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from participation is limited to the fees you paid for the current billing month, or $100, whichever is greater.

EXCEPT: This limitation does not apply to Lela Lee's breach of confidentiality (Section 7 & 9), which is covered by your membership and by E&O insurance.

14. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution

If you have a concern or complaint about the group, the facilitator, or other members, please contact us with a description of the issue. We will respond within 5 business days and attempt to resolve the matter informally.

Arbitration

If informal resolution does not work, any dispute between you and Lela Lee / I Survived an Asian Mom Club shall be resolved by binding arbitration, not litigation. This means:

A neutral third party (arbitrator) will hear the dispute

Each party will present their case

The arbitrator's decision is final and binding

Arbitration is typically faster and less expensive than court

Exceptions: Either party may pursue claims in small claims court if the claim qualifies, and either party may seek emergency injunctive relief (like a restraining order) in court if necessary to prevent harm.

Attorney's Fees

If arbitration or litigation occurs, the losing party may be required to pay the prevailing party's attorney's fees and court costs, as permitted by law.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Continued participation after changes constitute your acceptance of the updated terms.

We recommend checking this page periodically to stay informed of any changes. If we make material changes that significantly affect your rights or obligations, we will send you email notice.

16. Entire Agreement

This agreement, along with Skool, Squarespace, and/or Zoom’s Terms of Service (Section 11), constitutes the entire agreement between you and Lela Lee / I Survived an Asian Mom Club regarding your participation in the Sessions. If any part of this agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain in effect.
